The Development Program is designed for players entering the Learn to Train stage of soccer development. At this stage, players benefit from more structured competition, and Halifax City SC provides a fun and supportive in-house futsal league to maximize touches, skill growth, and enjoyment of the game.
Age Groups:
U9: Born in 2017-2018
U11: Born in 2015-2016
Parent/Guardian Role: Supportive from the sidelines; players participate fully with coaches and teammates.

Spring Block (Mainland) - 5 Weeks
Summer Block (Saint Mary's University, Fort Needham Park, Springvale Elementary) - 12 Weeks

All coaches are trained and certified through Soccer Nova Scotia and the Canadian Soccer Association. Requirements include:
Respect in Sport certification
Ethical decision-making training
Valid police checks

In-House Futsal League: players are placed on teams and play matches each week
Emphasis on game play over drills to promote creativity, decision-making, and confidence
Small-sided futsal format ensures more touches, faster play, and technical growth
Fun, competitive environment that builds teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship
The program uses the Spond App to manage schedules, notifications, and updates. Families will receive a unique link to join prior to the start of the season.
Before the season begins, parents/guardians will receive an online presentation introducing:
Club values and philosophy
Development pathway for players
Safe sport guidelines and requirements
Club code of conduct
Players receive a Jersey and ball with registration.
Each week is structured around match play in the futsal league.
Parent encouragement is key to supporting player growth and enjoyment.
