The Halifax City SC College Prep Program is designed for U19 players (born 2007-2008) who aspire to continue their soccer careers at the collegiate level — whether in NCAA, USPORT, or other post-secondary leagues.
This program provides a high-performance training environment, specialized guidance, and exposure opportunities to prepare players for the demands of college soccer both on and off the field.
Target Group:
U19 players committed to pursuing post-secondary soccer opportunities
Players interested in both domestic (USPORT, CCAA) and international (NCAA, NAIA, JUCO) options
Parent/Guardian Role: Support players in navigating the recruiting, academic, and lifestyle transition to college athletics.

Location: BMO Soccer Centre, Sacred Heart School of Halifax
Tentative Schedule:
U19 Boys: Wednesdays (BMO) @ 8:00 pm, Saturdays (SHSH) @ 4:00pm Match Day = Sundays
U19 Girls: Wednesdays (BMO) @ 8:00 pm, Sundays (SHSH) @ 5:00pm Match Day = Saturdays
(Additional training, fitness sessions, and showcase opportunities may be scheduled as part of the program.)
The program is led by experienced High-Performance and College-Experienced Coaches who understand the demands of NCAA and USPORT soccer. Requirements include:
Advanced licensing (min CONCACAF C, CONCACAF B preferred)
Experience coaching or playing at the collegiate/professional level
Respect in Sport certification
Ethical decision-making training
Valid police checks
This ensures players receive High-level training and recruitment guidance.
High-Performance Training: maintaining fitness, technical sharpness, and tactical understanding
Recruitment Guidance: workshops on creating highlight reels, resumes, and navigating recruitment rules
Exposure Opportunities: participation in college showcase matches, ID camps, and tournaments
Life Skills Development: preparing players for balancing academics, athletics, and independence
Pathway Preparation: connecting players with university coaches, scouts, and scholarship opportunities
The program uses the Spond App to manage schedules, notifications, and updates. Players will receive a unique link to join prior to the start of the season.
Before the season begins, parents/guardians will receive an online presentation introducing:
The college recruiting process
Academic and athletic eligibility requirements (NCAA, USPORT, NAIA)
Support available through Halifax City SC
Player and parent roles in the recruiting journey
Players must be fully committed to training, showcase events, and academic requirements.
Registration includes access to college prep resources such as recruiting opportunities and video analysis.
The program is designed to bridge the gap between youth soccer and college-level demands.
Strong parent support is needed for travel, academic preparation, and recruitment logistics.
