Community “B” Programs (U12-U18)


Program Overview

The Halifax City SC “B” Programs are designed for players who enjoy soccer in a community-based, developmental, and recreationally competitive environment. These programs balance skill development with the fun of being part of a team, while providing opportunities to play in the Nova Scotia Soccer League (NSSL) against other clubs.

The focus is on keeping players active, improving technical ability, and building friendships, while maintaining a lower time and travel commitment than the “A” or high-performance programs.

Age Groups:

  • U12: Born in 2014

  • U13: Born in 2013 (*Girls are both 2013 & 2014)

  • U15: Born in 2011-2012

  • U18: Born in 2008-2010

Parent/Guardian Role: Supportive from the sidelines, ensuring players are committed to training, matches, and team responsibilities.

Duration: 18 weeks total 

Cost Options:

  • $450 (Additional $50 Fee if a uniform is required)

*Returning players are expected to use their uniform from the previous season unless damaged or outgrown

Registration Fee Includes:

  • Club membership

  • Governing body fees (including insurance)

  • Field and refereeing costs

  • Coach Support & Education costs

  • Access to club resources and development pathway


Program Dates & Location

    • Season: October 20, 2025 - March 7, 2026

    • Location: BMO Soccer Centre, Sacred Heart School of Halifax, HRM School Gyms

    • Tentative Schedule:

      • U12 Boys: Wednesdays (Oxford) @ 6:00 pm Match Day = Sundays

      • U13 Boys: Wednesdays (Oxford) @ 6:00 pm Match Day = Sundays

      • U15 Boys: Thursdays (Central) @ 7:00 pm Match Day = Saturdays

      • U18 Boys: Wednesdays (BMO)@ 8:00 pm Match Day = Saturdays

      • U13 Girls: Wednesdays (Central) @ 6:00 pm Match Day = Sundays

      • U15 Girls: Saturdays (SHSH) @ 3:00 pm Match Day = Saturdays

      • U18 Girls: Saturdays (SHSH) @ 3:00 pm Match Day = Saturdays

 

(Matches are scheduled as part of the NSSL league calendar.)


Coaching Standards

All Halifax City SC coaches are trained and certified through Soccer Nova Scotia and the Canadian Soccer Association. Requirements include:

  • Respect in Sport certification

  • Ethical decision-making training

  • Valid police checks

This ensures a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all players.


Program Focus

  • Skill Development: improving dribbling, passing, shooting, and teamwork

  • League Play: weekly matches in the Nova Scotia Soccer League “B” Division

  • Fun & Friendships: creating a positive team experience for all players

  • Active for Life: keeping players engaged in the sport long-term, whether recreationally or competitively

  • Balanced Commitment: fewer training sessions and travel demands compared to “A” or performance streams


Communication & Scheduling

The program uses the Spond App to manage schedules, notifications, and updates. Families will receive a unique link to join prior to the start of the season.


Parent Orientation

Before the season begins, parents/guardians will receive an online presentation introducing:

  • Club values and philosophy

  • Player and parent expectations in community programs

  • Safe sport guidelines and requirements

  • Club code of conduct
